Rant: I finally figured out why my home office felt wrong after moving to Phoenix

For months after my move, I just could not get comfortable working. My back hurt, I was always distracted, and I thought it was just the new city. The tipping point was when I video called a friend and she said, 'Is your desk in front of a window? The glare on your screen is insane.' I had placed my desk facing a huge south-facing window for the 'view,' but the Arizona sun was blasting my monitors all afternoon. I was squinting and moving my laptop around constantly without even realizing that was the core issue. I spent $40 on some blackout curtains and moved my setup to a side wall. The difference was immediate. No more headaches, and I can actually see my work. Has anyone else had to completely rethink their layout because of something simple like light?

Arizona sun turning your home office into a personal interrogation room. Classic Phoenix welcome.

My laptop keyboard melted into a puddle last July.

Had a friend who tried to grow tomatoes on his balcony here. They basically turned into sun-dried tomatoes on the vine. It's a different kind of heat.
