Spent $80 on a fancy heat gun for finish removal and it tried to cook my lunch
I was stripping an old dresser and got hungry, so I put my sandwich on the workbench to warm it up near the gun. The thing put out so much heat it melted the vinyl on my bench and fused a slice of cheese to it. Has anyone else had a tool do something totally off the wall like that?

Used to think heat guns were just for paint, but mine warped a plastic toolbox left too close. Now I keep it away from anything that isn't metal or wood. That thing is basically a tiny jet engine, it'll toast more than your lunch. Learned the hard way when it softened the handle on a good putty knife.

Tell me about it, @taylor.jessica. I melted a credit card once.

Absolutely, those things are no joke. Tried to shrink some plastic wrap on a model car once and ended up with a puddle on the workbench. It also completely ruined the finish on an old radio, bubbled the plastic right up. You really do learn to treat it like an open flame.
