Had to pick between plastic bins and wire shelving for my garage build and I'm glad I went the boring route
I spent like two weeks going back and forth on this for my 20x20 garage in Phoenix. The wire shelving looked cleaner online and everyone says it keeps air flow better for dusty stuff. But I ended up going with heavy duty plastic bins from Costco and a basic metal shelf rack from Lowe's. Reason being I live in Arizona where dust gets everywhere, and wire shelves just let all that junk settle on my tools. Three months in and the bins are keeping everything clean, I can stack them higher, and I can actually see through the clear ones. Has anyone else regretted going with open shelving in a dusty area?

Bins saved me from finding a family of dust bunnies living on my drill bits.

Hold up though, dust bunnies live in the corners of your garage, not on drill bits. You probably just found some metal shavings and sawdust clumped together from the last time you drilled into wood. Unless your bits were sitting in a puddle or something, that family was more like a single dirty cotton ball that got stuck.
