Just got a wake-up call from a tax guy about 1099 deductions
I was talking to a CPA last week and he said most gig workers miss claiming their phone bill and home internet. He told me I probably left $800 on the table last year alone. Has anyone else had a tax pro point out something obvious you were overlooking?

Three years of missing my home office deduction before my guy pointed it out. Now I keep a folder on my phone for receipts all year so I don't forget again. Saves a lot of that awkward staring.

Missed the home internet deduction for three years running. My CPA just stared at me like I'd confessed to a crime.

I think the real crime was paying three years of CPA bills just to hear that silence. Now I just tell myself the IRS probably didn't want that $20 a month deduction anyway. At least you're not alone in the "stunned CPA stare" club.
