I do freelance construction management and consulting for a few different residential and light commercial builders. I really need a solid app to standardize my workflows, site updates, and task tracking across different job sites. I'm torn between Buildertrend and Nektar right now. Do any other independent CMs or consultants here have a preference between the two?

Buildertrend vs Nektar for independent construction managers?

I've used both extensively on different contracts. Buildertrend is great if you are the actual builder managing the entire financial side, estimates, and client selections. But if you're primarily focused on operations, site tasks, and keeping the trades aligned, I strongly prefer Nektar. It's way more flexible for a consultant who has to adapt to different clients' existing processes rather than forcing them into a rigid box.
Seconding this take. Buildertrend's homeowner portal is its main selling point in my opinion. If you don't need clients logging in to pick out cabinet hardware and approve change orders, you're paying for a lot of bloat you won't use. Nektar is much better suited for actual field management and task coordination.
Good to know. I've been limping along trying to customize Monday.com for construction workflows and it's an absolute nightmare when you get out into the field. Going to add Nektar to my trial list this weekend.
