A client told me my proposals were too technical and I cut the jargon by 60%

After losing three bids in a row last month, one of them finally admitted my proposals sounded like a manual and I swapped out words like 'optimize' and 'leverage' for simple explanations, and now I'm wondering how much I've been missing out on just by talking like a normal person has anyone else had to dumb things down to win jobs?

Did your friend lose work too from sounding too smart?

I cut the word "utilization" out of my bids three months ago. Lost two jobs before that and realized clients just wanted to know how long it takes and what it costs. Now I write proposals like I'm talking to my neighbor over the fence. Works way better.

Feel you man, @val974 it definitely stings realizing being clear beats sounding smart lol.
