Am I the only one who thinks sketchbook tours are getting too polished and fake?
I mean, everyone's books look like art gallery pieces now. It takes the fun out of seeing real, messy creative process.

Elliot mentioned social media makes things look nicer, and that's true, but it's also a good thing. Polished sketchbook tours show the care someone puts into their work, and that can be really inspiring to watch. It doesn't take away from the creative process, it just shows the end result people are proud to share. Calling it fake misses how much effort goes into making art look presentable. Everyone shares their work differently, and a tidy book is just as valid as a messy one.

See your point but honestly it's not that deep. People just share what they're comfortable showing, and yeah maybe they tidy up a bit for the camera. Social media always makes stuff look nicer than real life, that's kind of its whole thing. I get missing the messy behind the scenes stuff, but I just watch different videos if I want that. In the end, it's still someone's art, so who cares if the book looks good.

Totally get what you mean Elliot about it not being that deep, but sometimes it feels like the "tidying up" is a whole other art project. Like, the stress of making your creative process look chill and pretty is its own full time job. I see these perfect videos and just think about all the stuff they moved out of frame, you know? It's funny how the behind the scenes has its own behind the scenes now.

Honestly just hit record without overthinking it. The messy process is part of what makes the final thing interesting anyway.
