Paid $45 for a 'productivity app' and it just tracked how long I spent staring at my own wallpaper
Last week I felt a cold coming on and figured I'd buy some fancy app to help me power through work... turned out it just logged my screen time and sent me notifications like 'you've been idle for 5 minutes' while I was literally coughing into a tissue. I lost $45 and about 3 hours fiddling with settings that didn't help me finish a single invoice. Anyone else fall for one of those 'focus tools' that just makes you feel worse when you're already sick?

Ngl, "you've been idle for 5 minutes" sounds like exactly the kind of tough love I need when I'm sick and pretending I'm fine. Honestly, maybe the app was trying to tell you to actually rest instead of trying to power through invoices with a cold.

Same thing happened to me with a habit tracker app last winter. I swapped it for a simple paper notepad and a timer on my phone, and that worked way better. @val974 is probably right though, the app might have been trying to tell you to rest instead of push through being sick. Sometimes the old school methods are the best, no money wasted either.
