Finally gave up on net-30 terms after a job at a small bakery
I used to think net-30 was just standard, you know, how everyone does it. But last month I did a signage job for a local bakery called Sweet Rise in Austin and they paid me in 3 days because they liked my work and I asked for payment on completion. That experience convinced me that pushing for faster terms actually builds better relationships than waiting a month for money.

Man, did they just offer to pay early or did you have to negotiate that upfront?

$500 up front just appeared in my PayPal like magic.

Did Shane actually reach out to them first, or did that offer just land in his inbox out of nowhere? I'm asking because I've had a few times where a client offered early payment, and it always made me wonder if they were testing my patience or if they just had extra cash sitting around. Usually when people offer early money like that, there's a reason behind it, sometimes good, sometimes not. Did you get a sense they were trying to build trust, or was it more of a "we're in a hurry and need this done fast" situation? That $500 up front thing sounds nice on paper, but I'd want to know the full story before jumping in.
