Down sleeping bag vs synthetic... I finally made the switch after a wet trip

That wet hike changed my mind too @faith27, I used to love cotton socks.

Spent 6 hours trying to stack Milky Way shots before I realized my tripod was loose

Realized my own dumb mistake a few years back when I spent three hours trying to get a sharp shot of the Milky Way and kept getting blurry stars. Turned out I had left my image stabilization on from daytime shooting, which actually makes things worse on a tripod because it tries to correct for movement that isnt there. Felt pretty silly when I finally checked the camera settings and saw that little IS symbol blinking at me. Now I have a checklist I run through before every night shoot, and lo and behold, my success rate has gone way up. Little things like that can really trip you up when you are tired and working in the dark.

I finally switched from Upwork to Fiverr after 4 years and 150 proposals

Honestly, Fiverr's just the new hotness until they take their cut too.

TIL a friend's advice about taking Sundays off saved my sanity

It really made a difference for me once I stuck with it for a few weeks... at first I felt guilty like I was wasting time but then I noticed I was way more focused on Saturdays knowing I had that full day off coming. My brain just seemed to work better Monday through Saturday without that burnout feeling creeping in by Thursday. Sundays became my reset day where I'd do nothing or just whatever I felt like and that actually helped me sleep better too. The trick was not letting Sunday chores sneak in, had to really guard that day or it would fall apart.

Spent 3 hours arguing with a bank over a $8 fee

Man that's exactly what happened to me with my phone carrier a few months ago... they added some "premium voicemail" thing for $8 a month and I never asked for it. Called them up and the guy was like "oh yeah sometimes our system auto-adds that when you upgrade your plan." Took me 45 minutes on hold just for them to admit they did it themselves. It's so frustrating how they make you feel like you're the one who messed up first before they finally own up to it. Makes you wonder how many people just give up and pay for stuff they never signed up for...
