Spent $120 on a boilerplate contract from a lawyer and it saved me from a $3k dispute within a month

I was using a free template I found online for like 2 years. Then a client tried to say I didn't deliver what we agreed on. Pulled out the new contract I just paid for and it had a whole clause about revisions and scope creep. Shut that down fast. Anyone else skip the lawyer route and regret it later?

Totally agree, paid for a lawyer once and it paid off even quicker than that.

Exactly. Lawyers are a straight up investment not an expense. People cheap out on them way too often and it costs them way more in the end.

Oh man, that reminds me of when my cousin thought he could handle his own divorce paperwork to save cash. He printed out forms from some website and filled them out in like an hour. Fast forward six months and he's back in court paying triple what a lawyer would have cost in the first place because he messed up the asset split so bad. The judge actually asked him if he was serious with the filing. His ex's lawyer probably had the easiest paycheck of their career that day.
