That PayPal fee on a $5 commission stung more than I expected
A buyer messaged me after I sent their digital file and said why did you charge me $8? I had to explain that PayPal took 0.50 of the $5 and Fiverr took another 1.00, so I only got 3.50. Has anyone else had a client not realize how much the platforms actually take?

Why do people expect the full price to just go straight to the seller? That's not how any business works, man. If you buy something at a store the store takes their cut before the maker gets paid, it's the same thing here.

Man, I felt that in my soul... I had a client once message me all confused why their "five dollar" file actually cost them like eight bucks. I tried to explain the fees and they just said "oh so you're scamming me" and left. Now I just put the price at like $7 and hope nobody does the math on it... Kinda funny how we're out here working for less than minimum wage after everyone takes their cut.

Throwing the fee on the buyer's side would make it a lot more transparent, you know, like paying with a credit card and seeing the surcharge right there instead of hidden in the base price.
