Pro tip: Our local park got a VR demo tent and it's causing arguments

Honestly, the city set up a virtual reality booth in the community park for the summer. Tbh, some neighbors love it, saying it gets kids outside and excited about tech in a fun way. Ngl, others are mad, arguing it ruins the park's quiet vibe and keeps people glued to headsets instead of playing. I saw a group of teens trying a mountain climbing sim, but an older guy complained about the cables on the grass. It feels like we're choosing between new fun and old peace. Where do you stand on having VR in public spaces like this?

Seriously? It's a demo tent for the summer, not a permanent screen park. Maybe we can try new stuff without acting like the world's ending.

Ban it completely, parks are for real grass and real play, not more screens.

Our town did something like that at the library fair last year. It caused the same kind of fights, so they made a deal. The VR booth was only open for two hours in the afternoon, and they put it on the paved basketball court near the parking lot. That way, the people who wanted it could find it without it taking over the whole green space. It worked out okay because nobody felt forced into it, and the quiet areas stayed quiet. Maybe a limited time and a smart spot could help here too.

My buddy's town tried a pop-up VR thing at their fall festival right by the kids' playground. His daughter loved it, but he said the noise and the crowd totally changed the vibe of the whole area. People who just wanted to sit on a blanket got really annoyed. They ended up moving it to the edge of the festival near the food trucks the next day, which felt like a better fit. It kept the peace because the people looking for that loud, techy fun could have it without bothering everyone else. Sometimes it's just about putting the loud stuff in the loud zone.
