TIL that moving a heavy load showed me why VR should feel awkward

Last week, I was hauling a full bucket of mix across a job site, and it was slow going with every step. That evening, I hopped into a VR world where grabbing things had real weight and sometimes they fumbled in my hands. Most folks I know complain when VR physics aren't smooth, saying it breaks the fun. But after that day, I actually like when virtual stuff feels a bit clumsy and hard to handle. In one space, I tried to lift a big crate and it tipped over, spilling items I had to pick up one by one. It was annoying at first, but then it hooked me because it reminded me of real messes. Now I seek out VR worlds that keep some of that janky feel instead of making everything perfect. That little bit of hassle makes the whole place seem more like a place I could actually be.

Whoa, I always wanted perfect VR physics but you've got me rethinking that now.

Come on @harperg34, it's JUST VR, not brain surgery.

Getting the physics right is way harder than people realize (I deal with real-world physics in my warehouse all day). Tiny details can make virtual stuff feel totally wrong or perfectly real. Harper's rethink makes complete sense.
