Digging through old gym pics and my squat stance looks nothing like today
I mean, ten years ago we all squatted with our feet way too close together because that's how the bodybuilders did it. Now every guide talks about finding your natural width for better depth and balance. I had to relearn my whole setup just to stop my knees from caving in. It's crazy how much the advice on basic form has evolved.

Tried it wider and my knees stopped hurting, so I'm sold lol

Gotta disagree, Dan John was teaching find your natural stance like 15 years ago. It's less that the advice changed and more that people finally listened.

Ugh, I feel this so hard. I had the same narrow stance for years because some magazine said it was right. It took a nasty bit of knee pain to finally figure out my hips just work better with my feet way wider. Relearning that motor pattern was such a grind.

Remember when they told everyone to point your knees over your toes? Yeah, that messed me up for a long time. I was so narrow and forward. Had to spend months just drilling box squats with a wider base to fix it. Felt like learning to walk again. Solidarity on the grind to rebuild that motor pattern.
