Our book club's whole plan for 'Project Hail Mary' fell apart last night

We had this big thing set up where half of us were gonna argue the science was cool and half were gonna say it was too much, but then two people showed up saying they only read the first chapter. I spent like an hour making notes on the alien communication stuff too. So we just ended up talking about the movie cast for 45 minutes instead. Has anyone else had their whole debate topic just collapse because people didn't finish the book?

Had to choose between a 10mm socket and a prayer yesterday

Working on a 2008 Civic in the shop. Bolt was stuck hard. My only two options were the socket or just hitting it with a hammer and hoping. Went with the socket, but it slipped. Bolt rounded off clean. Took me an extra hour to drill it out. Anyone got a better trick for a seized caliper bracket bolt?

My uncle told me to put 40% of every check aside for taxes and I thought he was nuts

Honestly, I used to just pay my bills and spend the rest, figuring I'd deal with taxes later. He's been a freelance photographer for 30 years and drilled that number into my head last January. I started doing it, putting $400 from a $1000 job right into a separate account. When I did my taxes this April, I had the money ready and even got a small refund. It saved me from a huge panic. Has anyone else had a family member give you a specific number that actually worked?
