inJust realized some people think 'unlimited revisions' means they can change their mind forever
Read an article once that called it "confirmation bias for paperwork." People just scan until they find the part that lets them do what they already decided to do. The contract isn't a guide, it's a hurdle. That logo story is a perfect example. They fixate on their idea of "perfect" and treat everything else, including your time, as background noise.

inI finally asked for a project rate instead of hourly and it went sideways
That "just one more little thing" trap is exactly why flat rates can backfire. You have to define the project scope in writing before you start, listing exactly what's included. My contracts now say any extra work outside that list gets billed hourly at my normal rate. It feels awkward at first but it stops the endless revisions.

inOverheard a guy at the lumber yard telling his buddy his chimney 'never needs cleaning' because he burns 'good wood'. I had to bite my tongue.
Wait, he skipped cleaning for three whole years? How is his house not a pile of ash right now?

inI was talking to my dad about how he used to get paid for his carpentry work.
Wow, I've basically become a professional email nag!

inJust found out something wild about how many questions get asked online every minute
How do you even begin to explain that scale, @wesley639? I've found it helps to use a physical comparison. I tell people to imagine a DVD, then picture a stack of them reaching to the moon. That YouTube stat is like adding a few more miles to that stack every single minute. It makes the idea of "the cloud" feel less like magic and more like a truly massive warehouse.
