Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his AI art generator just made a perfect logo for his startup
He was bragging about saving $500 on a designer, but he never mentioned checking if the generated logo was actually unique or if it'd hold up in court. Makes me wonder how many people are launching brands on AI art without thinking about trademark issues.

Over 200,000 trademarks were filed last year alone. That logo might already be taken.

Haven't trademark filings actually dropped off a bit since the pandemic spike though? Just because a lot are filed doesn't mean most of them get approved or that the system is completely clogged. Plenty of those applications get rejected or abandoned, and a lot of them are for stuff nobody's even using yet. You can still search the USPTO database yourself in like ten minutes and see if your logo is clear. It's not that hard to work around unless you pick something super generic.

Totally agree, you can usually search and spot conflicts in minutes if you're not picking something super basic.

Juliaa65 has a point about checking quickly, but is it really that serious? If you're not trying to knock off some big brand, most of those rejected applications just sit there taking up space. A little common sense goes a long way before you file.
