I finally nailed crispy air fryer fries, but my method takes forever.

Some say soaking the potatoes is key for that perfect crunch, while others think it's a waste of time. I soak mine for an hour, and it works, but is it really necessary? What do you all think?

Soaking isn't the only trick for crispy fries. Patting them really dry before air frying can work just as well. Try a quick rinse and dry next time to see if it saves you some effort.

Doubt it's worth the extra step for most people. The difference in crispiness seems pretty minor to me. Just toss them in and call it a day.

Actually, soaking is the whole game. That hour pulls out the starch. Wet starch equals steamed fries, not crispy ones. Patting dry only gets the surface water. The inside stays gummy. Tried skipping it once and the texture was totally off. Worth the wait for real crunch.
