Hydraulic fluid brand loyalty is not worth the argument
I spent 9 years at a regional line in Boise and always used the OEM stuff. Swapped to a generic after the supply truck kept messing up orders. Same spec numbers on the drum. Three months of daily ops and zero issues. The only difference I noticed was the price tag. The older guys still swear the OEM keeps seals softer, but I have not seen a single premature seal fail on the logbook. Is there actual data out there or is this just habit passed down from some 1970s hangar talk?

Spec numbers on the drum are spec numbers on the drum. If the generic stuff meets the same rating, the oil does not know what logo is printed on the label. I have seen the seal argument come up in every shop I have worked in and nobody ever pulls out a study. It is always a guy who knew a guy whose pump went out once, and somehow the oil gets the blame. Meanwhile half the failures I have seen traced back to heat, dirty fluid, or somebody topping off with the wrong jug. You ran it three months with no issues and the logbook backs you up, so that counts for more than hangar stories.
