I rolled my eyes at those 'no-touch' torque wrenches until one saved a job for me

We had a stubborn bolt on a Cessna 172's landing gear actuator, and my clicker wrench just wasn't getting a clear signal in the tight space. The lead mechanic handed me his digital one that beeps, and it confirmed the torque in two seconds flat. Has anyone else found a specific job where a tool you doubted actually proved itself?

Got to ask though, is a beep really that much better than a click? Sounds like the real issue was just a bad angle with the old wrench. Those digital ones are nice, but they're just another tool that can fail too (batteries die, screens glitch). I'd trust a well-calibrated clicker I've used for years over a new gadget most days.

See your point but the beep is way clearer in loud shops. Had my clicker fail mid job cause I just couldn't hear it over the noise.

Agree completely, it's about knowing your tools. That old clicker probably just needed a fresh calibration to be good as new.
