inHeard a guy at the lumber yard say he never uses a speed square for layout
My old boss swore by the tape method until a whole room of cabinets wouldn't fit. I keep a speed square in my pouch now.

inI swapped half the butter for olive oil in my sourdough and the crust went INSANE
That olive oil trick is a game changer. I did a 50/50 split with avocado oil once and got this crazy shiny, crackly crust that sounded like glass breaking when you cut it. The crumb stayed super soft too. What kind of olive oil did you use, the regular stuff or something fancier?

inMy new $300 hoof stand from the trade show was a total game changer... until it wasn't
Man, isn't that always the way? I had this super nice laser level that was my pride and joy for setting garden beds. Thing was a champ for two solid seasons, then one Tuesday morning it just lit up like a Christmas tree and went totally dark. Never got a single beep out of it again. It's like the fancy electronics just decide they've had enough right when you need them most. Makes you want to just go back to the simple stuff that doesn't have a brain to quit on you.

inGetting stuck in traffic today changed how I see my daily commute
Oh man, reading that reminded me of the grocery line. I got stuck behind someone with a million coupons last week and instead of stewing I just people watched. Saw the funniest little kid trying to hide a candy bar in the bread.

inOur reading group's clash over a mother's lie in that family saga
Sometimes a lie isn't a crack in the glass, it's the stuff that holds it together for a while. That anger when the truth comes out is tough, but it might be better than the hurt the truth would have caused back then. Not every secret is about breaking trust, some are just about buying time.
