PSA: I lost $500 on a 'digital nomad' co-living space in Tulum that had no reliable internet.
The photos looked great, but the router was in the main house and my casita's signal was useless for video calls. Anyone know a solid housing group for Mexico that actually vets the WiFi?

Tbh that's a brutal way to lose cash, but it's way too common. I saw a whole thread on a travel subreddit last week with the same exact story, different city. You gotta ask for a speed test video from the actual room before you book anything now. I've had good luck with local Facebook groups for specific towns, the admins usually call out the bad spots.

But what if the video is fake too, max716?

Is it really that big of a deal if a rental video is fake? You find out, you get your money back, and you book somewhere else. People act like getting tricked by a listing is some life ending event. Just read the reviews and use common sense.
