That torque wrench click isn't a suggestion, it's a final answer

I keep seeing guys in the hangar cranking past the click on landing gear bolts because they think it needs to be a little tighter. Did that once on a 737 nose strut 2 years ago and cracked the lug flange on the next taxi out. Has anyone else had to chase down a failure that started with someone ignoring the torque spec?

Put a witness mark on ours after the first time and never had that problem again.

A buddy of mine forgot to mark his once, spent a whole afternoon chasing a wobble that was off by half a turn. Never seen a man so relieved to just scribble a line on a bolt.
