Heard a guy at the hardware store say most alarm panels are installed too high

I was grabbing some screws and this older guy was telling the clerk how he sees panels mounted at eye level or above all the time. Said it makes them a pain to work on and looks worse. Made me think about my last 3 jobs where I put them around 54 inches off the floor. Never had a complaint about reach or looks. Has anyone else tried dropping their panel height a bit?

Isn't it funny how we just accept eye-level as the default for everything without questioning if it actually works better? Reminds me of how people mount TVs way too high too, like we're all standing up to watch Netflix.

Wait are we all just copying the same mistakes from TV mounting? I put a panel at 50 inches last month and the homeowner actually thanked me because their kid could reach it during a storm.
