Thought I was saving money buying bulk alarm wire from an online auction. Lost $350 on 500 feet of wire that turned out to be crap.
Won a pallet of security cable for cheap on Auction Nation, but when I got it half the spools were oxidized and the other half had the wrong gauge printed on the jacket. Anyone else get burned by mystery bulk wire deals?

Haha, "turned out to be crap" pretty much sums up my whole experience with auction wire too. I bought 300 feet of what was supposed to be solid copper speaker wire and ended up with aluminum garbage that snapped if you looked at it wrong. The worst part was that the auction photos showed the spools looking brand new but what showed up was rusty and full of kinks. You really have to wonder if these sellers are just clearing out their scrap piles and hoping nobody checks the gauges. I guess the lesson is that some "deals" are just expensive lessons in disguise.

That's Infuriating they'd pass off rusty wire like that.
