Finally noticed the sub count on the manga pages in berserk, blows my mind every time

I kept seeing people complain about the pacing in the golden age arc and I always nodded along. Then I actually paid attention to the chapter release dates and realized Miura was putting out like 3 to 4 chapters a year for a while there. That's not slow storytelling, that's just a guy working at human speed on something massive. I counted it out after looking at the wiki timeline and it hit me around chapter 200 where the hiatuses really stacked up. Anyone else ever take the time to map out the real release gaps for a long running series and change your whole view on it?

Man I spent a whole afternoon with a spreadsheet doing this exact thing for One Piece once and felt like such a dork. Turns out I was blaming Oda for being lazy when the man was literally drawing himself into health problems. My brain just assumed monthly chapters meant the author was slacking, but then I realized I can barely finish a 10 page essay in a month. So yeah, my whole view on pacing complaints shifted real quick after seeing those release gaps laid out in black and white.
