A customer in my shop last Tuesday taught me a lesson about old fridges that I won't forget
I was working on a 1998 Kenmore in my shop and told the owner the compressor was gone, but he asked me to check the relay one more time before I quoted him $400 for a new unit. I swapped the $12 start relay and the thing fired right up, and he just smiled and said he'd had the same fridge since his kids were little. How do you all handle the pressure to recommend replacement when a cheap part might keep something running?
