The "swore was a gimmick" part is what gets me, because the cheap ones only work if you actually put them in the right spot. A puck sitting in a cabinet does nothing, so the real trick is dropping one under the sink and behind the washer where the slow drips hide. Your mileage may vary on the brand, but placement beats price every time.
