Switched to a different multimeter for a fridge job and it gave me a weird reading
My old Fluke 87V showed a solid 120V at the outlet, but the new one I borrowed read 118V and kept fluctuating. Anyone know if that small difference can actually point to a bigger wiring problem?

That small difference is probably just the meter. Did you check if the borrowed one had fresh batteries? A low battery can make readings drift around like that.

Oh man, that reminds me of a time my GPS gave me two different routes to the same warehouse! Sometimes the tool itself just has a little quirk, you know? I'd trust the Fluke over a borrowed meter any day.

Yeah the GPS thing @hannah_craig mentioned is so true, tools just have their own weird ways. I mean my old car's GPS would always try to take me down this one closed road, every single time. It's like it had a favorite path even if it was wrong. I guess meters can be the same, they just settle into their own little idea of what the right number is. You gotta stick with the one you know, even if it's a bit off.
