Warning: a dishwasher in Mount Vernon taught me I've been reading error codes wrong for years
Had a rough stretch two weeks back where three separate dishwashers in Mount Vernon all threw the same flashing light pattern, and I replaced the control board on the first two before I caught on. Turns out on that model the blink count starts AFTER a two second pause, not right when the light comes on, so I was counting wrong the whole time. The third one got a $12 drain hose instead of a $180 board, and it fired right up. Cost me about $400 in parts I couldn't return plus a very awkward call to the second customer. Anybody else have a brand where the blink timing trips you up, or is it just me?
Man, $400 in parts you can't return is the kind of tuition they don't tell you about at trade school. Honestly counting blinks is basically reading tea leaves at this point, every brand wants to do it their own weird way. Maybe the real lesson here is that pause is gonna haunt your dreams for a while.
