Wandered into an old growth patch in Redwood National Park last weekend
I spent hours just staring at the base of a single redwood that had to be 15 feet across, and it hit me how we spend so much time managing trees in urban settings but rarely get to see what they actually do when left alone for centuries. Has anyone else had that moment where you just stop and realize how different our day-to-day tree work is from the natural life of a tree?

You're framing it like we're missing something, but urban tree work is a completely different game. We're dealing with infrastructure and safety, not trying to recreate some ancient forest vibe.

Honestly I used to think that too but you're totally right.

Right? I spend all week trimming branches and still can't even reach the bottom of one of those giants.
