Spent $80 on a cheap pinpointer and it saved a dig day in the Mojave

We were working a site near Barstow and I kept missing small flakes in the dry, sandy soil. My buddy lent me his Garrett Pro-Pointer AT, so I bought one. That thing found a tiny obsidian point I would have walked right over. Has anyone else had a tool that made a huge difference on a tough site?

Oh man, that sandy soil is the WORST. A good pinpointer is a total game changer for not losing those tiny flakes. Seriously the best money I ever spent on gear.

Honestly hannah_craig, that's how most good tools feel.

Lol right? @hannah_craig knows the pain. It's like the universe just swallows those little targets whole. I've spent way too long on my knees, digging through a hole the size of a dinner plate, just for a stupid pull tab. My old pinpointer was a total brick, beeping at everything but the actual find. Upgrading felt like getting superpowers, no lie.
