That Tuesday in March where every site meeting went sideways

I disagree with people who say construction jobs are all about the big picture. It's the small stuff that gets you. Last March I had a day where three different subcontractors showed up to the wrong lot at a new development in Alpharetta. The framers set walls on the wrong slab before anyone caught it. That one day cost us about $1,200 in extra labor and materials to fix. Has anyone else had a single day throw off your whole week like that?

Honestly I get what you're saying but I kinda see it different. That wrong slab thing sounds like a screw up on the foreman's part for not checking the drawings before the crew started. I've had days where three subs showed up to the same lot and we just had to juggle them around each other. The real kicker for me was when an inspector flagged a whole row of footings because the rebar was off by two inches. That cost us a whole day and about two grand in extra concrete because we had to pour new ones after the engineer signed off on the fix. So yeah it's still the small stuff but its not just about showing up wrong its about the little details that get missed.

You really think two inches on rebar is worth two grand and a whole day? Sounds like the inspector was just flexing to me.

Did you try giving each foreman a printed site map with their lot clearly marked before they started?
