The night the moon looked fake through my 8 inch Dobsonian

Had one perfect night last Thursday where the sky was dead clear and the air was still. I pulled out my old scope and Saturn's rings were so sharp I could see the Cassini Division without straining. Anyone else have those nights where you just sit there staring for way longer than you planned?

Oh man that sounds incredible! I had a similar night last winter where I was just trying to grab a quick look at Jupiter but ended up sitting on my freezing porch for like two hours watching the moons move.

Two hours on a freezing porch watching moons move? That's dedication (or maybe just really good views and poor decision making). At least you didn't get frostbite, right?
