Bought a $80 tiny house doorbell cam, now I answer my porch like a paranoid spy
I live in East Atlanta near the Beltline and my packages kept getting swiped. So I dropped $80 on one of those little battery doorbell cams. First night it caught a raccoon setting off motion alerts every 5 minutes. I turned the sensitivity down and now it only pings when a human walks up. Yesterday some guy in a hoodie stood at my porch for like 20 seconds staring at the door, then left. I watched it live from my couch and felt like a weirdo hiding behind my own curtains. It never even did anything, but I love the fake security feeling lol. Anyone else get these just to creep on their own block, or am I the only one?
The raccoon alert thing hit close to home, mine did the exact same thing for a week before I figured out the settings. But honestly, that feeling you get watching someone linger is real, it makes you wonder what they were doing even when nothing happens. I think we all just want to feel like we have some control over our space, even if it's just watching from a couch.
