Call me crazy but I was dead wrong about those reusable grocery bags

I always thought they were just a gimmick for people who care too much about looking eco friendly. But then I moved to Atlanta and started walking to the store because parking is a nightmare. After dropping a plastic bag full of cans on the sidewalk and cleaning up broken glass for 20 minutes, I bought a pack of those thick reusable ones for $8. They hold way more weight and I haven't had a single rip in 6 months of weekly trips. What finally made you switch over to something you used to mock?

Right? I used to think they were overpriced hype until the first time one saved my trunk from a leaking milk jug.

Found out the hard way that a half-eaten bag of shredded cheese can leak through a reusable bag and into the trunk carpet. Took me three washes to get the smell out.

Wow, really? @sandragrant I felt that cheese leak story in my soul. I switched after my $4 plastic bag split on the bus and a whole chicken broth container exploded at my feet. Now I keep a stack of those thick totes in my car trunk at all times. They pay for themselves fast when you aren't mopping up spills every week.
