inLost $300 on a logo contest site before I figured out proper pricing
The $50 contest I ran got me 62 entries and exactly zero usable logos. @the_hayden is right, it's basically a tuition fee for the school of hard knocks lol. I spent another $200 on "guaranteed revisions" with one of their top rated guys and he just kept making the same font changes over and over. Ended up paying a buddy's girlfriend $350 who did graphic design on the side, got a real logo in three days. Those contest sites prey on people who don't know any better, it's almost a scam how they sell it.

inHad the worst Saturday of my barbering career last month
Clippers pulling hair is rough but three people walking out with uneven fades sounds like a bit of an overreaction. Pretty sure most dudes can't even tell a perfect fade from a decent one.

inBack in 2018 I thought charging by the project was a scam
Did that client also text you at 2am asking for free revisions?

inThat free invoicing app cost me $320 last month
100% agree with @the_john on this. I learned that lesson the hard way too when a free invoicing app held $450 of mine for 17 days before they finally released it. Now I only use tools that let me plug in my own Stripe account directly and I double check every update email for payment processor changes. These free apps hook you with convenience then switch the terms when you are not looking.
