Guy at the Macon Waffle House said he met his wife in an AOL chat room in 1997
We got to talking at the counter around 6am and he pulled up the old welcome screen on his phone. Got me wondering how many people in Atlanta actually still hop into the local rooms, or did everyone move to Discord?

AOL local rooms were mostly dead by like 2005 if we're being honest. Sure there's a few stragglers still poking around in the weird corners of the internet, but Discord killed that scene years ago. Waffle House at 6am is prime time for tall tales anyway, that guy probably tells that story to somebody new every week. Your mileage may vary but I doubt there's some hidden Atlanta AOL revival happening.
