The day a server at The Vortex snapped at me for asking about gluten free buns made me rethink how I order
She said they don't do substitutions on the Lava Burger and it got me thinking are we too picky or are restaurants too rigid on menu rules?

The Vortex is famous for their burgers though, that's like the whole deal with that place. You gotta know what you're getting into when you walk in there, it's not a chain that's gonna have a full gluten free menu. I get the frustration for sure, but some kitchens just don't want to mess with swapping buns on a messy specialty burger like the Lava Burger. It's not about being rigid, it's about them knowing their limits and trying to avoid serving someone a half-assed version of a dish.

Ngl, just get the regular bun and pick it off if you're that worried about it. Restaurants can say no sometimes without it being a big deal.
