A guy at the Atlanta Tech Village meetup told me my 30 second intro was all wrong
Last month I went to the Tuesday morning networking thing at Atlanta Tech Village and when it was my turn I did the usual thing, name, where I work, what I do. Afterwards a guy named Derrick pulled me aside and said I sounded like a guy reading a business card, and that nobody in the room would remember me by lunch. He said to lead with a problem I solve instead of a job title, so now I open with something like 'I help shops on the west side cut down on comebacks' and the difference in how people respond is night and day. I have had three real follow up coffee chats in two weeks since I made that change.
Curious if anyone else has gotten blunt feedback at these meetups and what you actually changed about your intro.
