Got told my primer coats were too thick and it changed my whole approach
A painter I respect watched me shoot a hood last week and said I was laying it on like I was trying to fill a swimming pool. I cut back my fluid tip and slowed down my passes and now my orange peel is way more controlled. Anyone else have a pro drop a piece of advice that seemed small but made a big difference in their finish work?

Lee.cora I think the whole "ease up" thing gets pushed too much in painting. Sometimes piling it on is exactly what you need if you're working with cheap paint or trying to cover a dark color in one shot. I've had times where cutting the fluid tip just gave me more passes and more chances to screw it up with dust nibs or sags. Honestly if your gun's set right and you know your material, laying it on heavier can actually save you time and give you a flatter finish if you just let it flash properly.
