I finally tried a different clear coat on a classic Mustang restoration

For years I stuck with the same brand my old boss in Dayton always used. This 1968 Mustang came in with a full respray, and the owner insisted on a specific two-part clear he'd heard about. The difference after three days of cure time was obvious. The finish had a deeper gloss and felt harder to the touch. Has anyone else switched their go-to clear and been surprised?

Wait, caseywalker said the same thing about hardness. That's crazy after just three days.

It's wild how often the "right way" turns out to just be the first way you learned.

Funny how you get stuck in a routine with materials. Always thought the stuff we used at the shop was the best you could get, no question. This one job forced me to try a different brand, and the results were impossible to ignore. The clarity and hardness were just on another level after it set up. Makes you wonder what else you've been doing the long way around. What clear did they end up using on that Mustang?

Oh man, I know exactly what you mean. You get so used to one brand you don't even question it. That's awesome the new stuff worked out so well.
