Shoutout to the old shop teacher who called me out on my torque wrench habit
Back in 2019 at a community college class in Phoenix, this retired mechanic named Mr. Hendricks saw me just clicking my torque wrench back to zero after a job. He said, "You're gonna ruin that thing, kid, store it at the lowest setting instead." Anyone else have a mentor who taught them a simple habit that saved them money over time?

Did you ever catch yourself doing it the wrong way after he told you? I had a similar thing with an old machinist who told me to never store my dial calipers clamped down tight. Made me realize how many small habits we pick up without thinking.

Oh man, all the time. Now I catch myself and fix it before it becomes a bad habit again.
