Ever try getting your company to pay for smarter routing? I fought for years to get approval on direct flights or at least one layover max instead of this three-hop nonsense. Push them on the real cost - an extra hotel night to catch a morning direct flight is cheaper than paying you for two full travel days plus all those extra tickets. Sometimes accounting needs to see the math your way.
