Just wasted $300 on a 'universal' crimping tool that mangled every single D-sub pin I tried it on.
The sales rep swore it was perfect for avionics harness work, but the crimp depth was way off and now I have to redo an entire connector block on a G1000 unit, so has anyone got a solid recommendation for a reliable brand that actually works on aircraft-grade connectors?

My buddy's "universal" tool did the same thing... total nightmare.

Yeah, my friend's cousin had one that just... fell apart halfway through a simple job.

Oh man, that's rough. I bought one of those bargain bin tools once and the handle just snapped clean off in my hand. I was left holding a piece of plastic while the rest of it rolled under my workbench. Felt like the universe was making fun of me for being cheap. Honestly, I've had tougher toys from a fast food kids meal.

My neighbor's new drill smoked out on its first screw.
