inI finally got my head around rounding spines after a year of messing it up
Oh man, that first year struggle is SO real. Totally get the lumpy spine pain. That dowel trick sounds brilliant, honestly might try that next time. To answer tessap97, a smooth round just feels SO much better in the hand, you know? It's not just looks, it's how the book opens. My own low-tech fix was using a thick marker to roll it out on a towel, but it was still hit or miss. Really glad you found a method that works!

inJust hit 100 custom doors built in my home shop. Part of me feels like a real craftsman now, the other part thinks I'm just a guy who's really good at making rectangles.
A hundred doors is a serious milestone, that's way past just making rectangles. The real craft is in the fit, finish, and making each one square and true. That number proves you've got the process down solid.

inTried asking a super open question on here and got crickets
Honestly, I've had the opposite experience.

inMy apprentice asked why we still carry a 25-foot steel tape measure when his phone has a laser.
That foreman had a point about the truth part. Lasers are great for long solo measurements, but a tape forces you to see the whole run of what you're measuring. You spot a bow in a wall or a floor dip you'd miss just shooting a dot. My laser died once right when I needed it, and the tape in my bag got the job finished. Both tools have their place on a job.

inFinally got my layer management system to actually work
My old Revit template had hyphens in every family name. After a filter command failed on a hospital project, I switched to underscores completely. It just works better with the software we use.
