Showerthought: That $300 'universal' test set from AeroPro Tools was a total waste
Bought it thinking it would handle basic continuity checks on older Boeing 737 comms, but the leads were junk and it couldn't read through shielded cable properly. Ended up costing me half a day on a job in Kansas City before I gave up and used my old Fluke. Anyone have a solid brand for a solid multi-function tester that won't crap out?

Had the same problem with a cheap set last year. My shop switched to the Klein Tools MM700 and it's been solid for aircraft wiring. The leads actually stay connected and it reads through shielding no problem.

Cheap multimeters are the worst. I bought one that gave different readings if you breathed on it wrong. My buddy had to explain why my truck's wiring was all messed up, and it was just my meter lying to me. Never making that mistake again. Good tools might cost more but they actually work when you need them.
