Vent: I thought those new fiber optic termination kits were just overpriced hype until I had to redo a connector on a G650 in a hangar at 2 AM.

The old method took me 45 minutes and failed twice, but the kit had it done in under 10 with a perfect signal, so what other new tools have you guys actually found worth the cash?

Remember when we all thought those fancy torque screwdrivers were just for show? I fought getting one for years, but after stripping a tiny terminal on a flight control board, I caved. Now I use it on everything from avionics racks to seat track screws, and I haven't had a single over-torque call back. It's one of those things that just makes the job feel right.

Wasn't there a guy in your hangar who swore by feel alone? My buddy Mike was like that, total old school. He laughed at my torque wrench until he had to redo a whole row of panel fasteners on a Citation after they came loose in flight test. The lead made him buy his own screwdriver and redo every single one with a torque log. He doesn't laugh anymore.

@john_lopez knows that torque log pain all too well.

Ever see someone try to "feel" torque on a medical device? Same lesson, way scarier outcome.
