Finally hit the 50-mile mark on the Lost Coast Trail and a ranger at Mattole said my old boots were 'veterans of the trail'
That one comment from a stranger after a tough stretch made the whole soggy, blistered trek feel totally worth it, you know?

Oh I'll definitely be framing it, right next to the memory of my soggy shoes and the profound regret of not just staying in bed that day. It's a real motivational masterpiece, up there with "you paid for this" and "your legs are just lying to you". Really gets the spirit going.
